Honda HR-V: DTC B0002-1A
Special Tools Required
- SRS Inflator Simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A
- SRS Simulator Lead J 070AZ-SNAA100
- SRS Short Canceller 070AZ-SAA0100
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was
in a collision. If so, verify
that all the required components were replaced with new components of the
correct part number,
and that they were properly installed.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and
Procedures, General
Troubleshooting Information, and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and
Reconnection.
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with
the HDS. If the software version
is not the latest, update the SRS unit software, and retest.
DTC (SRS)
1. Problem verification:
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
Clear DTCs
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B0002-1A indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting
Intermittent Failures. If
another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
2. Driver's airbag inflator check:
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Remove the driver's airbag.
- Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector (on the cable reel harness)
NOTE: Make sure to work with the driver's airbag second inflator 2P connector
(A) that has a guide tab
(B) on the left side of the No. 1 terminal as shown.
- Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
Clear DTCs
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B0002-1A indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Short to another wire in the driver's airbag second inflator; replace the
driver's airbag, then clear the
DTC.
3. Cable reel check:
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Remove the jumper wire from the driver's airbag second inflator 2P
connector on the cable reel
harness.
- Remove the column covers.
- Disconnect cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead J to the SRS inflator
simulator (2 Ω connectors), then
connect SRS simulator lead J to cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard
wire harness.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
Clear DTCs
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B0002-1A indicated?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Short to another wire in the cable reel; replace the cable reel, then clear
the DTC.
4. Shorted wire check (LA2+ line to LA2- line):
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector A (39P)
- Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead J. Do not
disconnect SRS simulator
lead J from cable reel connector B (4P) on the dashboard wire harness.
- Connect the SRS short canceller to SRS unit connector A (39P) terminals
No. 4 and No. 5.
- Measure the resistance of the test point.
Is there an open circuit?
YES
The LA2+ and LA2- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS
unit connector A (39P)
and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS
unit. If the DTC does
not clear, replace the dashboard wire harness.
NO
Short to another wire in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard
wire harness, then clear the
DTC.

When the FCW system is OK, the FCW indicator comes on for about 5 seconds
after turning the vehicle to the
ON mode, then it goes off.
