Honda HR-V: Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal and Installation
Removal & Installation
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component
locations - Refer to: SRS
Component Location Index (KA/KC) and the precautions and procedures before doing
repairs or service.
1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect
NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Cowl Cover - Remove
3. Both A-Pillar Trims - Remove - Refer to: Interior Trim Removal and
Installation - Pillar Areas (With
Side Curtain Airbag), or Interior Trim Removal and Installation - Pillar Areas
(Without Side
Curtain Airbag)
4. Both Kick Panels - Remove - Refer to: Interior Trim Removal and
Installation - Door Areas, or
5. Both Dashboard Side Lid - Remove
6. Dashboard Switch Panel - Remove
7. Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover - Remove
8. Column Cover - Remove
9. Passenger's Dashboard Undercover - Remove
10.Glove Box - Remove
11.Center Console - Remove
12.Front Console Panel - Remove
13.Center Lower Frame - Remove
14.Shift Lever Housing - Remove (M/T)
15.Shift Lever Assembly - Remove (CVT)
16.Heater Control Panel - Remove (Without Climate Control)
17.Climate Control Unit - Remove (With Climate Control)
18.Humidity/In-Car Temperature Sensor Remove (For Some Models)
19.Auxiliary Under-Dash Fuse Box - Remove
20.Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box - Remove
21.Brake Pedal Position Switch - Remove
22.Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam - Remove

Driver's Side
- Disconnect the connector (A).

- Remove the harness clips (A), then disconnect the connectors
(B). (for some models)

- Disconnect the connectors (A).

Steering Column Area
- Disconnect the connectors (A)
- Remove the harness clips (B).

- Remove the harness clips (A), then disconnect the connectors (B)
- Remove the bolts and nuts, then remove the steering column (C).

- Put on the steering (A) to the driver's side floor.
NOTE: Wrap the part in the
shop towel to avoid any damage to it prior to the removal.

Passenger's Side
- Disconnect the connectors (A, B). (for some models)

- Disconnect the connectors (A). (for some models)

- Disconnect the connectors (A).

Center Console Area
- Remove the rear heater duct (A).

- Disconnect the connectors (A)
- Remove the ground bolt with a TORX T30 bit
- Remove the harness clips (B).

Engine Compartment Side
- Remove the cap (A), then remove the bolt.

Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam
- Remove the bracket (A) from under the dashboard.

- Remove the cap (A)
- Loosen the special bolts (B, C) until they disengage from the threads on
the hanger
beam side brackets (D), and engage the inside threads of the collar bolts
(E). The thread
lock on the special bolts makes the special bolts and the collar bolts turn
together
- Continue to loosen the special bolts to turn the collar bolts into the
fixed space
adjusters (F) until the collar bolts engage the adjuster brackets. This
creates a gap (G) between the collar bolts and the body
- Remove the special bolts.
NOTE : Special bolt (B) remain in the body side.

- Check that the collar bolts (A) are seated in the fixed space adjusters
(B).
NOTE:
- If either collar bolt was not seated, replace the special bolts.
- If necessary, use a hex wrench through the mounting hole to engage
and seat the collar bolt into the hanger beam.

Specifications
- Remove the cap (A), then remove the bolts (B, C).

- With the help of an assistant, remove the dashboard/steering hanger beam
(A).
NOTE: Check the position of the both side bolts before removing the
dashboard/steering hanger beam.

Remove the wiper linkage assembly (B).

Note the alignment marks (A) on the wiper linkage assembly (B) and
