Honda HR-V: Tailgate Outer Handle Switch Removal, Installation, and Test
Removal & Installation
1. Rear Wiper Motor - Remove
2. Rear License Trim - Remove
3. Tailgate Outer Handle Switch - Remove
- Disconnect the connector (A)
- Remove the tailgate outer handle switch (B).
4. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Test
1. Tailgate Outer Handle Switch - Test
- Check for continuity between the terminals in
each switch position according to the table
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the
tailgate outer handle switch (A).

Removal & Installation

- Remove the tailgate outer handle/lock switch (B).
4. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Test
1. Tailgate Outer Handle/Lock Switch - Test
Outer Handle Switch
Lock Switch
- Check for continuity between the terminals in each
switch position according to the tables
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the tailgate
outer handle/lock switch (A).

Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was
in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced
with new components of the correct part

Before troubleshooting, check the outside air temperature sensor. If
outside air temperature sensor is
failed, the VSA modulator-control unit may set this code.
Make sure to avoid lopsided loading on one side (left or right) of the
vehicle and excessive loading.
