Honda HR-V: SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front Passenger's Airbag ON Indicator
Does Not Go OFF
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was
in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced
with new components of the correct part
number, and that they were properly installed.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and
Procedures, General Troubleshooting Information, and 12 Volt Battery
Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection.
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with
the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit
software, and retest.
1. System check 1:
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, and wait for 10 seconds.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes
on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then goes off?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
If confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
If DTCs are not indicated, go to the Symptom Troubleshooting "SRS indicator
stays on, but no DTCs are stored, or cannot be
read" - Refer to: SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - SRS indicator stays on, but no
DTCs are stored, or cannot be read, or SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front
passenger's airbag ON/OFF
switch to on, but front passenger's airbag ON indicator does not come on, or SRS
Symptom Troubleshooting - Front passenger's airbag ON/OFF switch to off, but
front passenger's airbag
OFF indicator does not come on, or SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - SRS indicator
does not come on, or SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front passenger's airbag
cutoff indicator stays on or
comes on suddenly, or SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front passenger's airbag ON
indicator does not go off, or SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front seat belt
reminder indicator does not
come on, turn off, or flash (KA/KC).
2. System check 2:
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Check for front passenger's airbag ON/OFF switch to off.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the front passenger's
airbag ON indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
Is the front passenger's airbag ON indicator normal?
YES
Intermittent failure, the vehicle is OK at this time.
NO
Go to step 3.
3. Shorted wire check (ON PTT line):
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the following connectors.
Front passenger's airbag ON/OFF indicator 5P connector (on the dashboard
wire harness)
SRS unit connector A (39P)
- Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MΩ?
YES
The ON PTT wire is OK. Replace the front passenger's airbag ON/OFF indicator
- Refer to: Front Passenger's Airbag ON/OFF Switch Removal and Installation, or
Front Passenger's Airbag
ON/OFF Indicator Removal and Installation. If the problem is still present,
replace the SRS unit.
NO
Short to ground in the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire
harness.

Removal & Installation
1. Rear Accessory Power Socket - Remove
Gently press the tabs (A), and remove the rear accessory
power socket (B)
Disconnect the connector.
Gently press the tabs (A), and remove the housing (B) from the right
rear
side trim panel. Note the location of the index
DTC (MICU)
NOTE : If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the

1. Problem verification:
The DTCs with th
